What is Food Grade Steel ?

Moxymug is a Food Grade 18:8 Stainless Steel with a Seamless Construction.

What is 18:8 Steel ?
When purchasing a water bottle that is stainless steel you can be confused by the many different prices that are on the market. Just like most things, you get what you pay for. Take the quality of the steel. Does it hold up in the dishwasher? is it toxic? Will it corrode?

Simply put, 18 8 Stainless Steel is the superior corrosion resistant steel product. it is nonmagnetic and is also known as Type 304 or 304 Grade. 18/8 Steel has 18% of chromium and 8% nickel. It also contains no more than .8% of carbon and at least 50% of iron. The chromium protects the iron from rusting while the nickel reduces the corrosion.

How to Clean Stainless Steel
Stainless Steel is dishwasher safe. Look inside your cup, do you see a seam? If so, you may have bought a inferior construction where the seam may fail from intense heat. If so, be aware of hot liquids and hot washing, and next time buy a seamless bottle. Do not use an abrasive scourer as it may scratch the surface.

Metal that is not Safe to use for Eating
Any grade of steel that is not a 300 series grade can be considered a lower grade that may be magnetic, rust or corrode. Look for the capital L in any of the steel grades. A capital L is used for lead products, and therefore should never be used for food consumption.
