What is Food Grade Steel ?
Moxymug is a Food Grade 18:8 Stainless Steel with a Seamless Construction.
What is 18:8 Steel ?
When purchasing a water bottle that is stainless steel you can be confused by the many different prices that are on the market. Just like most things, you get what you pay for. Take the quality of the steel. Does it hold up in the dishwasher? is it toxic? Will it corrode?
Simply put, 18 8 Stainless Steel is the superior corrosion resistant steel product. it is nonmagnetic and is also known as Type 304 or 304 Grade. 18/8 Steel has 18% of chromium and 8% nickel. It also contains no more than .8% of carbon and at least 50% of iron. The chromium protects the iron from rusting while the nickel reduces the corrosion.
How to Clean Stainless Steel
Stainless Steel is dishwasher safe. Look inside your cup, do you see a seam? If so, you may have bought a inferior construction where the seam may fail from intense heat. If so, be aware of hot liquids and hot washing, and next time buy a seamless bottle. Do not use an abrasive scourer as it may scratch the surface.
Metal that is not Safe to use for Eating
Any grade of steel that is not a 300 series grade can be considered a lower grade that may be magnetic, rust or corrode. Look for the capital L in any of the steel grades. A capital L is used for lead products, and therefore should never be used for food consumption.

Canning Strawberry Guava's
Strawberry Guava |
We have a Strawberry Guava bush in our front yard. The berries become ripe in mid September and we always have more than we can use. The fruit is the size of cherries and don't disappoint in tasting like a cross between a strawberry and a guava. The color of the skin is a deep dark purple red and is screaming that it is anti-oxidant rich.
Strawberry Guava Berries |
High in Vitamin C, Calcium and Potassium, Strawberry Guava's make a great snack. A popular way to eat them is to cut off the ends and pop them in your mouth. One drawback from strawberry guavas, they have small seeds.
Seeds, Seeds, Seeds!
If you can handle swallowing small seeds, then this is the fruit for you. Serving fruit to others can be deterred however because of the amount of seeds in such a small berry. And to add insult to injury, the seeds can fall through a normal colander, and also stick to the pulp and not separate in a mesh sieve.I implore others reading this, is their a good way to separate the seeds?

It's the little things
It's the Little Things... |
Our kids don't know about traffic jams and gridlock, they know about petting dogs, exploring the bushes and talking to friends. Our back yards may be small with the new age of development, however the community space opens our ability to connect and belong in unity.
The dogs eyes are always longing for a ball thrown at the green space. The kids want to go as well...and want to be tickled-chased by me. And sometimes I would rather stay at home in my jammies, but when I get myself out, I am always rewarded with the gift it brings my spirit.
You may look at this and wish you had the same, but I'm sure if you think about it their is a gem of a space in your community that gives you calm. Where do you meditate? What will be a space you will think about when your older and unable to walk? Where is your spot that gives you a sense of gratitude?
